At Blanks we are committed to our long-term goal of preserving and maintaining a healthy environment. We support this goal by using environmentally friendly inks, chemicals and coatings, embracing an aggressive plant-wide recycling program and following a Lean Manufacturing process within our facility.
What is Lean Manufacturing?
The core idea is to maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Simply, lean means creating more value for customers with less resources.
A lean organization understands customer value and focuses its key processes to continuously increase it. The ultimate goal is to provide value to the customer through a value creation process that has zero waste.
- Blanks is a member of the Forestry Stewardship Council® and is a stakeholder in this system of promoting responsible management of the world’s forest.
- Blanks employs both waterless offset printing and UV offset printing. These printing methods are a major advantage in the elimination of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the printing process.
- Blanks maintains state-of-the-art press dryers and cooling systems that reduce energy consumption and minimize heat generation. In addition, the use of automatic ink dispensers and blanket washers aid in the reduction of ink waste and solvent usage.
- Blanks recycled over 1,600 tons of paper and plastic in 2008.
